Well hello lovelies! I’ve got some fun little things from my brain for you this week and am working on a non-Friday 5 post to send out next week most likely.
This is a mish-mash of links and info so I hope you enjoy!
5 random things from my brain and the interwebs
(1) PILLS & PROTEIN
As I’ve mentioned before, I take hormone replacement therapy as it is the gold-standard for peri/post menopausal care, according to the myriad of clinically trained and menopause educated doctors I look to for guidance. I use an Estradiol patch twice a week, I’m waiting for a refill of my Testosterone cream, and I take a Progesterone pill right before bed (my sleep aid). I love how this trifecta helps me out in visible and not visible ways BUT, I don’t love seeing an ugly pill container on my nightstand. I discovered a brilliant (if I do say so myself) solution!
I have a bunch of old, glass beauty product jars in my basement that have been waiting to be taken to the PACT recycling box. I found an empty Beautycounter Countertime jar that is a pretty blush pink shade, cleaned it out and emptied the pills into the container. It looks so cute and makes me smile a little when I grab it to get my nightly progesterone!
Speaking of peri/post-menopause, I am having a really hard time eating enough protein these days. I just can’t eat all that meat! I was thankful to see this article from Dr. Mary Claire Haver outlining the differences between complete and incomplete proteins, why they are important, as well as providing a list of high quality animal AND plant-based proteins to consider.
This protein calculator is also a great resource!
There was one exhibit in Paris that I meant to visit during my last trip but I didn’t make it for various reasons and I’m kicking myself. It’s La Galerie Dior and I will definitely be going there the next time I’m in Paris. It looks like a fashion confectionary with some fascinating history to boot.
This article highlights the top fashion exhibits this summer around the world. If your jam is gorgeously cool fashion exhibits, this is for you. I wish I could hit them all! Do me a favor and send me pics if you visit any of these!!
(3) JINJU PATISSERIE
This has been my favorite Portland croissant for awhile now and I thought I was the only one who knew about it but the James Beard Foundation just introduced the world to Jinju Patisserie by awarding it the Outstanding Bakery award for 2025. It’s so close to us and I hope it doesn’t move after this award. But honestly, I’ll travel wherever necessary to enjoy their delicious offerings!
(4) THE RESIDENCE
My husband and I started this fun, who dunnit on Netflix with cautious optimism and ended up LOVING it! We found ourselves trying to justify watching “just one more episode” almost every time we turned it on. It’s like a modern take on an Agatha Christie or Poirot mystery. The characters are unique and fun, the story lines work, and there are the pre-requisite twists and turns. Highly recommend!
(5) THE GROUND
There is a restaurant in McMinnville, OR called Humble Spirit. I ate there a few years ago with a good friend of mine and it was divine. Really. A lovely experience all the way around. Service, food, ambiance…they nailed the big three.
Imagine my excitement when I found out that the owners of this restaurant also have a wonderful farm/B&B/event space in Yamhill County that looks just as divine as their restaurant was. Enter The Ground, an evolving collection of destinations and experiences throughout Yamhill County, designed to help species connect in harmony with one another.
This place has all of the ingredients I value in an experience - conscientiousness, intention, natural beauty, and education.
I plan on heading out there this summer to take a tour of their regenerative farm, maybe stay the night, and hopefully experience one of their wellness events or one of their collaborative food events with the likes of Tournant (*swoon).
Thanks for reading! Have a loverly weekend and drop me a message letting me know what you get up to!
TGIF!
XO,
E
